The Sheriff of Los Angeles County, California, Robert Luna, stated that reaching many severely affected areas due to the wildfire is unsafe. In this regard, he expressed concerns that the number of fatalities could increase. He mentioned that there have been five confirmed deaths due to the wildfire, but the number is expected to change.
Describing the devastation caused by the wildfire spreading in Los Angeles, Robert Luna said, “…(it feels like) a nuclear bomb has been dropped in these areas.”
When asked about the possibility of the wildfire spreading further, Luna stated that he is praying it doesn’t happen. However, he added, “I don’t expect good news.”
According to a report from Reuters, the wildfire in Los Angeles, known as the center of the entertainment industry, started last Tuesday. The city is burning in what is considered the most devastating wildfire in history. By Thursday, six separate wildfires had ignited there. The fires are spreading rapidly, driven by winds blowing at speeds of up to 150 kilometers per hour.
Of the six separate wildfires, three have completely gone out of control, according to fire services. Almost 200,000 residents of Los Angeles have been urged to evacuate for safety. Shelters have been set up in various areas to accommodate evacuees.
